Recently I was asked "HOW do you stay positive EVERY DAY?"
My answer is SIMPLE...
Its a choice!
I don't get up feeling deliriously happy inside, that would be its own kind of nightmare.
I just CHOOSE to LIVE POSITIVE!
Everyday we get up and WE DECIDE what kind of day we will have.
Not the weather, the kids, our partner, our jobs or other people...US, WE CHOOSE!
When I wake up to rain, I never look outside and think arrghh rain :(
I think "YAY gumboots, greener grass, hot chocolates and rainbows".
Sure I may be wired somehow to lean towards the brighter side but what I know for sure is this....
I have had too much crap in my short life to spend the rest of it NOT looking on the bright side. No matter where we are and what we are doing, there is ALWAYS something to be positive, thankful and happy about...
You just have to FOCUS on it and CHOOSE your feelings.
Today on Focused Friday, I want to ask you "What are you focused on?"
I invite you to spend a few minutes in Todd's world. Todd and I go way back ;)
Whenever we go to the park, my son never rides the slide down, he rides it up.
This doesn't bother the GM and I if the park is empty but we quickly tell him to GET OFF if there are other kiddies around because obviously, he is preventing them from going DOWN the slide.
However, after watching this clip..I realise, going UP is how you do it in his world! It makes him happier to go UP not down. Sounds good to me!
Maybe we all need to ride the slide up every once in while to remind us...
There’s a place you can go TODAY, EVERYDAY...
Everyone is beautiful for who they are inside,
Everyday is beautiful just look around and SEE!
It's a wonderful, colourful world...
Just as long as you focus on actually SEEING it and CHOOSE to FEEL IT!
Keep Shining,
Stace x

Hi Stacey, I always wondered how to explain my positive way of thinking, I like your comment 'being wired that way'. I always look on the bright side no matter what, it actually annoys ppl sometimes! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post.
ReplyDeleteYou are exactly right, happiness is a choice. It is entirely up to the individual which choice they make, I know which one I prefer.
Thank you for sharing your motto on life, you have made my day brighter.
Lovely read Stacey!
ReplyDeleteYou really are inspirational ;o)
I used to be naturally easy-going, always-look-on the-bright-side-kind-of-girl, happy-go-lucky....I never had to try...it was just ME! But...entering official adult-hood & going through a few stressful situations over the past 5 years, changed me a little. I still find myself a very happy, positive person, but I'm finding I have to make it a choice more lately...it's not just a natural instinct as much!
I love your way of thinking.
Being 'sunny' is so much more fun I say ;o)
xo.
Wonderful post Stace - so true it is all about choice! I am always happy and positive around others but do need to be reminded occasionally around my family!! thanks for the reminder! Have a positively wonderful weekend. Leanne xx
ReplyDeleteLove this post!! Attitude is a choice, and it always has been!
ReplyDeleteI had a little smile and tingle and the going UP the slide.
Recently, I took the girls to Wiggles Play Centre, and Little Miss J sees the slides (there is 4 together), she runs at them, from the bottom!! Being 15 months old, and in socks, you can imagine - but what does she do? Run 4 steps up, falls smack on her face and slides down. Gets up, GIGGLES, and does it again!
She makes me realise how blessed I am each day - and A LOT can be learnt from a 15 month old - she runs at an obstacle, she falls down, but gets up and tries again!
I love it!
What a crock! 'Choosing' to be positive and ALWAYS looking for the bright side of things. There's a name for people like you and it's not 'optimist' - it's 'unrealistic' or 'misguided'. Always looking on the bright side is just another way of saying you're non-confrontational and living with your head buried in the sand. I bet you turn the news off when they show stories of negativity in the world too. What's wrong with looking outside and thinking 'aagh, it's raining' and then spending a few minutes bemoaning your plans that are now ruined? I'm not suggesting that you should be down and out about everything - that would be going too far in the other direction - but a little bit of balance goes a long way. I feel sorry for your kids if they're being brought up in a sickly sweet overly optimistic always look on the bright side environment - all that will do is mak it harder for them to accept adversity when it faces them later in life. Time for a reality check I think...
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your viewpoint with us.
I fully agree, there is nothing wrong with looking outside, seeing rain and saying "argh". I just prefer to do the opposite.
I don't watch TV and there is no need to feel sorry for my kids, they love the rain and life just as much as I do.
Thanks so much for stopping by, do come back the next time you're in need of a reality check and a good dose of the bright side.
Keep Shining (or not)
Stace x
PS I prefer to live with my head in the clouds actually, the sand is far too gritty for my liking!
